Chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, kidney and live failure, heart disease, digestive problems, skin problems, gingivitis, arthritis, allergies, ear infections, yeast over-growth, etc. have been in the increase in our companion animals over the last 30 or so years. Our pets are dying much younger and having symptoms of anxiety, depression and aggression more then ever before.

Our diets, and what we feed our pets is mostly processed, commercial foods anymore, we live in a fast, convenient food age. These processed diets and fast, junk foods are taxing our immune systems. Aside from trauma, the process of death, at the cell level, is oxidation. The death of cells is caused by an invading molecule called a "free radical" which invades cells causing their death. These invading free radicals are part of our pets (and our) environment, the chemical preservatives in processed pet foods, water, chemical pesticides sold by your veterinarian, anything that is foreign to the body can, potentially, become a free radical.

To keep it simple, when a free radical enters the body and the immune system is not functioning optimally, three things can occur.

Should the free radical attack a cell membrane, allergies can occur.

Should the molecule attack the fat globule that nourishes the cell, the cell dies. This is associated with aging and rheumatoid arthritis.

Should the free radical attack the nucleus of the cell, which has the reproductive map of the cell (DNA) cancer can develop.

Immunodeficiency combined with a weak antioxidant defense system are the primary causes of illness. Since the animal's body is constantly bombarded by free radicals it is virtually impossible for the antioxidant defense system to be consistently at peak performance. To a great degree, immune activity is aided by antioxidants

Antioxidants are substances that act as shields or barriers to prevent the invading free radicals from doing harm to cells. Antioxidants not only increase the number of white blood cells it also enhances antibody formation. Protecting DNA

"After having read on an email list about several people using BYJ (older formula of NingXia Red) with their animals, I decided to try it on my cats.

One of my cats, a Munchkin named Zoe, was adopted because the breeder was moving cross country, and she had Feline Herpes, so she could not be sold. If a home could not be found for her, she was going to be put down. Her symptoms are usually l limited to dripping eyes and nose, and her face must be cleaned at least once a day.

Another, non-Munchkin cat named Sox, has had a sporadic occasion of licking her legs raw. We've used Melrose, Melaleuca, Animal Scents, expensive ointments from the vet, changed her food, put e-collars on her, you name it, we've tried it. Additionally, our vet has said she has arthritis in one leg (she's about 9 years old).

So I decided to put all my cats on a daily eye-dropper full of Ningxia Red. At first my husband was horrified: "You're giving that expensive juice to the CATS?!!" Well, I ignored that and after 5 days of giving them one eye-dropper full each day, here are the results:

Zoe's eyes have almost completely stopped dripping. I have not had to clean her face each day, and her nose is clean as well. After five days, she looks like her face usually does after about 12 hours. Yesterday in our 100+ degree heat wave, I put on several drops of Peppermint, and she not only came near me, she climbed in my lap and closely sniffed my fingers and palms without backing away.

Our last kitty, Libby, who is also a Munchkin, accepts the juice, shakes her head like she has just had a swallow of straight lemon juice, and walks calmly away. She has been very affectionate in the last two days, where she is normally a very stand-offish cat.

"My little terrier has taken to spending cold winter nights on my bed, where he sleeps peacefully at my feet all night. Recently I was awakened by his trembling. Was it a bad dream?
